After a well-deserved holiday, the choir Landarbaso has been working hard preparing various projects in which it will participate in autumn.
Firstly, on 5th, 12th and 13th October Landarbaso along with Loinatz Choir and the organist Rifón Gerardo has participated in the XIV. Romantic Organ Cycle of Gipuzkoa offering three concerts in Azkoitia, Bergara and Beasain. These concerts have been divided into two parts: on the one hand the works of the English composer John Rutter (each chorus alone and then both at a time) and “Stabat Mater” by composer Josef Rheinberger, all accompanied by organ. On the other hand, the double-choir Mass of the same composer, in this the choirs sang a cappella. The experience has been very rewarding both professionally and personally.
The following November 2nd, the Choir Landarbaso will offer a performance in the magnificent setting San Telmo Museum in San Sebastián in the IV. Musikagileak Contemporary Music Series. MUSIKAGILEAK is a cultural organization for the development of Basque composition (Organization of Basque composers), non-profit organization that aims to strengthen Basque music of any era, making emphasis on the music that is created today. Having this goal, Landarbaso will perform works by composers David Azurza, Francisco Escudero, Koldo Pastor, Jesus Egiguren, Gonzalez Bastida, Josu Elberdin, Guridi, Javi Busto and others.
We have started with romantic music, we will continue with Basque music and in December Christmas songs cannot be missing. The following December 14th Landarbaso will participate in Matinees, which is organize by the Symphonic Orchestra of the Basque Country in its headquarters. In the 2013-2014 season they have organized 16 different performances each with its own identity and with different starting points. This year will be consisted of classical music, baroque, symphonic, rock and even with dance. Landarbaso Choir will participate in the cycle along with some members of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra that belong to the group Kaabestri. Together we will present innovative arrangements of Christmas songs of the composer Dan Forrest. It is a nice music, easy listening and full of bright chords, an excellent choice to start feeling the Christmas spirit among us.
If all this was not enough, on October 31 Landarbaso will offer a Basque folklore concert in the parish of San Juan de Luz along with Arin Choir. This concert is becoming a habit in recent years, where the capacity of the church is filled to listen Basque melodies. On November 23th Landarbaso will participate in the 50th anniversary of the school Orereta offering two works, one will be “Iparragirre abila dela” composed by the composer from Zumaia Iker González specially for that day. On December 14th Landarbaso will sing in Alza where we will perform Basque folklore, polyphonic works and also Christmas songs. Finally, on December 22th it will be held the usual Christmas concert together Sutargi and Lartaun choirs in the Capuchinos Church in Errenteria.
As you can see everyone who wants to enjoy culture and the choir music has different options and programs to enjoy in the following 2-3 months together with Landarbaso. A hard but a rewarding work for everyone!
